A weekend in Atlantic Beach Florida
Atlantic Beach is a cute beach town, a bit north of Jacksonville Beach. Lots of small shops, places to eat and also an affordable Inn to stay at.
On our way back North we spent two delightful days in Atlantic Beach, Florida. Atlantic Beach is a little less than an hour from the Georgia border. Its about four and a half hours south of Charleston, South Carolina, making it an ideal place to stop if you are driving up or down the East Coast.
WHERE TO STAY
Salt Air Inn & Suites
We found this cute Inn on Expedia to stay at. It’s conveniently located on Atlantic Blvd, within walking distance of restaurants, shops and only a 10 minute walk to the beach access.
Our room was a little small, about 200” total but it was very clean. There are a few different room types to choose from, if you prefer a larger room. The staff were friendly, making sure we had enough towels for our two-night stay. They even provided free water and snacks.

The pool area is super cute, with a beachy vibe sitting area. They also have picnic tables under an awning, if you want to sit in different places. (Which is especially nice since the room is tiny.)
There isn’t a lot of on-site parking, but their over-flow parking area at the McDonalds next door worked out fine. They gave us a pass to put in our window, and we didn’t have any issues parking there.
We'd stay here again, it was very affordable and much nicer than the AirBnb we stayed at on our last visit to the area.

PLACES TO DINE
When we’re out on the road, we try to only eat two meals a day. (Too many calories!) Here’s two places we dined at this time around, both an easy walk from the Salt Air Inn.
Breakfast
Beach Diner
We love a good old-fashioned diner when we eat breakfast out. The food and service are consistently great here. (Good portion sizes with fair prices.)
Even if it seems really busy, you’ll be surprised by how fast they seat even large groups of eight. They also serve lunch and as you can see by the sign pictured below, and are open daily.

Dinner
ABBQ
This BBQ place has a large interior space, and also pretty outdoor areas. We wanted to sit out back, but it was very crowded during their happy hour on Saturday. (Yes, they have Happy Hour during the weekend, I was pleasantly surprised by that.)
We each usually get our favorite BBQ fair. I especially liked the roasted brussels sprouts, its been awhile since I’ve ordered them, and was a nice change from fried okra or no veggies at all.

THINGS TO DO
