Enjoying Florida beach sunrises and dreaming of Kauai
Enjoying the beach near my home in Florida brought to mind when we visited Kauai two years ago. Walk the beach with me, and also discover where we stayed and what we did in Kauai. Hopefully it will inspire a trip to either location. :-)
Beach sunrises
Waking up at 6:30am to walk the beach sounds a bit crazy, but I’ve been finding such peace in doing so. It’s become a regular thing for me to enjoy while in Florida. Visiting the same beach day after day I’ve discovered how different each morning can be, from a dramatic fire-red sun to complete fog. Mostly the sunrises are a gorgeous combination of baby colors - light blue sky, with a little pink in the clouds and the sun a bright yellow.

This is what it looked like when I first walked down to the beach, on one foggy morning - I couldn’t see much of the ocean…

… but just 15 minutes later, the sun broke through the fog and burned it off enough to peak through.

Dreaming of Kauai
Our trip to Kauai was mostly relaxation with a little bit of adventure. Here's our curated guide if you are planning a trip to Kauai.

Where to stay
We felt we got the best value and saw most of the island by staying at these AirBnbs. Kauai has lots of different vibes to choose from, and if your stay is short, stay near what attracted you most to going to the island.
Beach and nightlife: A studio condo with easy beach access, plenty of restaurants and shops in walking distance in Kapaʻa.
Rainforest and dramatic views: A one bedroom condo in Princeville with views of the Queen’s Bath with rainbows and beautiful sunsets.
Hawaiian lifestyle: A historic 1930’s home in Kekaha at the base of Waimea Canyon in a residential neighborhood.
If you prefer to stay at a resort, our blog has two recommendations.

Must dos
Napali Sunset Cruise - beautiful views and dolphins
Princeville Botanical Gardens and Chocolate Tour - luscious rainforest gardens with an enlightening tour about chocolate
Lava Lava Beach Club - beachside music and dining in Kapaʻa
It was hard to pick my top three recommendations because there is a lot to do in Kauai, for any interest from adventuring to relaxing. Our blog features a lot more of what we enjoyed. Even though we spent three weeks in Kauai, we still didn’t see and do everything.

I hope you enjoyed walking the beach with me and hearing about our Kauai adventures. Beach time is happy time, no matter where.
